Week 6 Preview

DeMatha is now 4–0, having beaten Winthrop 36–28, and remains the only undefeated team in Varsity Friday. Indian Land, meanwhile, has dropped two straight after beginning the season 2–0. The Warriors lost 30–20 to Streamwood in Week 4 and then 35–19 to Belvidere last week. That makes this a particularly important game for Indian Land. A third consecutive loss would create a significant gap between the Warriors and the teams at the top of the standings. But a victory over DeMatha would immediately change the picture. For DeMatha, this is another opportunity to maintain its unbeaten start. The Stags have already defeated Streamwood, Highland, Addison Trail and Winthrop, and now face an Indian Land team that entered the season as one of the league's early contenders.

Streamwood vs. Highland is probably the other game with the most at stake. Both teams are 2–2, although they arrive there through very different paths. Streamwood has already defeated Indian Land this season, while Highland is coming off consecutive victories over Belvidere and Addison Trail. The winner moves above .500 and puts itself in position to challenge Belvidere for second place.

Belvidere vs. Winthrop has a different dynamic. Belvidere is 3-1 and eyeing a playoff spot. Winthrop is still searching for its first victory, but the Ramblers have played competitively enough to produce a tie with Addison.
